My Wonderful Friends,
I couldn't wait to get back to my computer after our trip to Ft. Collins, Colorado, and report to you about the amazing connection with the local members of The Group of 1000. On Wednesday evening, April 19, Neale and I, and Neale's companion, Young Hee, sat down with a handful of very dedicated and inspired members of The Group of 1000, one of whom had come from as far away as Pittsburg, to be with us on this evening, and discuss the vision of this work in the world.
Nannette Kennedy, our wonderful newsletter writer and general voice connection with so many of our members all over the world, was there with Randy Anderson, her fiance and never-failing supporter of this work, and Casey, Nannette's 11-year-old son (I wrote about him in my first blog), who took notes and sat rapt for three hours! Casey is by far our youngest member, but certainly not the least dedicated to this idea of creating a better world.
Also there was the inimitable Fred Read from a small community in Colorado called Westcliffe, 3-1/2 hours away from Ft. Collins. Fred kept feeding hard questions, and contributing his ideas, in a way that had us all awed and inspired. Jo Anne Tippett flew to Colorado for just this occasion, and also asked some hard-hitting questions, and offered some wonderful thoughts about how we can be who we say we are in the world.
Our wonderful sponsor in Ft. Collins and producer of Neale's event there, Donna Visocky attended, along with Nancy Lee, a local radio talk-show host and long-time friend of Neale and Rita.
It was an evening which bound us together in ways that we will not soon forget. We have a common purpose--a goal that ignites us and keeps us in the knowing that we will always be friends and colleagues in this vision that we share. It is our fervent hope that get-acquainted dinners like this can be enjoyed with GroupK1 members all over the world during the next year, and that bonds can be forged again and again, creating community that will thrive and be a catalyst for the change that we seek to make.
Neale's talk at the Lincoln Center in Ft. Collins on Thursday night touched many people in the 600-person audience. There were 51 emails at info@TheGroupof1000.com the next morning, asking for more information and the four letters explaining the commitment asked of members.
The next opportunity for a member dinner will be in Utrecht, The Netherlands--time and place will be announced on the Member Calendar. Our friend, Roel Somers, is organizing this event, so if you are in the area of Utrecht and feel that you can join us, please make the connection with Roel to receive information about when and where. His email is: rs-support@hetnet.nl
Love, Rita
